Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What makes the All-Ready® Complete First Aid System different than other first aid kits?

A: This first aid system provides all the necessary supplies as well as step by step illustrated instructions in each care pack. The All-Ready® First Aid System was designed under patented technology and meets and exceeds OSHA standards. Furthermore, since the system is injury specific, you have greater access to the supplies you need when you need them. The systems can easily be kept updated by ordering the re-supply packs.

Q: How do the instruction cards with the icons, color coding and pictures make the system easy to use in an emergency?

A: In an emergency it is often difficult to rapidly gather your thoughts and the supplies necessary to help someone. The All-Ready® Complete First Aid System uses a patented process of visual prompts and guides to help you quickly identify the supply pack and instructions you will need. The icons and color coding quickly get you to the right care pack. The step by step illustrated instructions helps you to provide proper treatment.

Q: What is an injury care pack?

A: Through statistics provided by the National Safety Council and the Center for Disease Control we have been able to identify the most commonly occurring injuries. We have used this information to create a separate package for each of the most common injuries. Therefore, if you have an eye injury, then you would simply go to the Eye Pack (navy blue), if you had a bleeding injury you would reach for the Bleeding Pack (red) and so on.

Q: What do you mean by 'instruction cards in every pack'?

A: To help provide rapid and accurate first aid guidance in an emergency, each care pack contains a card with a list of pack contents on the front and step-by-step picture instructions on the back. With easy to read language and simple illustrations, the user can follow along to use the supplies provided correctly and take the proper steps to accurately manage the injury. Each All-Ready® Complete First Aid System also includes a 22 page guidebook which provides a duplicate copy of the instruction cards supplied in the individual injury care packs.

Q: If each pack has an instruction card, what is the guidebook for?

A: A 22-page guidebook is included in each system as a backup to the instruction cards. Also, the last page of the guidebook is an extra page with Poison Instructions.

Q: What is the Basics Pack?

A: The Basics Pack (silver) contains items that are typically seen in most first aid kits. Items such as bandage strips, antibiotic ointment, and cold packs can be used for small cuts, scrapes and bruises. A re-sealable top allows you to add additional items for any special needs you may have.

Q: Are there any products with expiration dates?

A: Yes. The Basics Pack (silver) contains an antibiotic ointment. The Eye Pack (magenta) contains eye wash. The manufacturer has an expiration date stamped on both packs. If you have not used the antibiotic ointment or eye wash before the expiration date, it is strongly suggested that you discard the pack and reorder a new one.

Q: What do OSHA and ANSI require in a first aid kit for the workplace?

A: Under CFR 1910.151, OSHA requires all employers to provide both trained first aiders and accessible first aid supplies for their employees. OSHA DOES NOT provide standards and specifications for what should be in a first aid kit. ANSI (American National Standards Institute) provides a list of those items that constitute the 'minimum fill requirements for first aid kits.'

Q: How does the term 'near proximity,' used in OSHA standards interpretation, relate to the need for a company to have first aid kits?

A: Should an injury or sudden illness occur in a facility, professional emergency medical services must be able to respond within 3-4 minutes from the time of incident to actually being on the scene. IF NOT, trained first aiders and first aid kits are required by law in the workplace. It is important to note that the average EMT response time is 8 minutes so a first aid kit for the workplace is an important safety tool.

Q:What is the purpose of the new National First Aid Science Advisory Board Guidelines?

A: In early 2005, the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross co founded the National First Aid Science Advisory Board to review and evaluate the scientific literature on first aid. The goals of this panel were to reduce disease and death due to injury events and to analyze the scientific evidence that answers the following questions:

Q: How are these new guidelines incorporated into the All-Ready® Complete First Aid System?

A: The recommendations generated by the National First Aid Science Advisory Board are designed to provide guidance on managing those first aid emergencies which have a direct effect on the health and survival of injury victims. In addition to identifying those knowledge components which are critical for all to know, the associated supplies to render such care are also defined. The All-Ready® system provides the essential step by step instructions, based on the new guidelines, as well as the necessary supplies to render rapid and accurate first aid.
